About Our Church

The Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ is part of a global fellowship of undenominational churches, each one independent and self-governing.  We use the Bible only, as our rule of faith and practice and simply wish to be called, “Christians” (Acts 11:26).  Our ongoing goal is to restore the Christianity found in the New Testament without adding to or taking from it.  Our ultimate goal is to lead people to a personal relationship with Jesus Christ and bring glory to Him in everything.

The Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ is a country church located in southeastern Indiana with a weekly attendance of 120.  We are located on Salem Ridge Road in Ohio County, Indiana, and are approximately:

  • 7 miles from Rising Sun, Indiana

  • 10 miles from Aurora, Indiana

  • 11 miles from Rabbit Hash, Kentucky (use ferry service)

  • 19 miles from Vevay, Indiana

  • 39 miles from Cincinnati, Ohio.

What to Expect

Dress Code- There is no dress code.  Wear what you like and come as you are.  You will find people dressed in suits and ties to jeans and T-shirts.  Most people tend to "dress up" more for holiday services.

Child Care-  We do have a nursery parents are welcome to use; however, we do not keep nursery and childcare staff.  Children age 4 and up are welcome to attend the Sunday School classes.  All children and babies are welcome to sit with their parents during worship services and Sunday School.

Upon Arrival-  We have volunteer greeters to welcome you in the foyer.  They will answer any questions you may have and can direct you to the appropriate Sunday School class if you wish.  They will also hand out bulletins containing information for that morning and the coming week.

Music-  We are an instrumental church.  Traditional hymns are sung with the accompaniment of piano.  On occasion, after communion, we have a congregation member or guest share a special musical selection which may include other instruments or recorded music.

Morning Service typically follows the pattern below:

  • Announcements & Prayer concerns

  • Prayer Hymn; Scripture reading; Prayer

  • Hymns

  • Communion

  • Offering

  • Sermon

  • Invitation

  • Closing prayer and Hymn

Evening Service-  Same as the morning service, but in an even more relaxed atmosphere.

Baptism

Have you been baptized into Christ?

This is the most special of all events because it is the time in which a penitent believer's sins are washed away and they receive the gift of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:38).  Baptisim marks the beginning of a brand new life in Christ and brings a person into the membership of the Church.

Did you know you can be baptized any day of the week, not just Sunday morning?

Get in touch!  An elder would be happy to talk to you about receiving Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior!
