Church Leadership

Keeping with the Biblical model of church leadership, Pleasant Ridge Church of Christ has Elders. An Elder is an older man, overseer, or leader in the church who has met the Biblical qualifications to fulfill this position and desires to carry out Biblical work of this position. This is in accordance with 1 Timothy 3 and 1 Peter 5.

The work of an Elder generally includes shepherding the membership, exercising oversight upon the membership, living as examples to the membership, teaching the membership, and helping disciple all those who wish to grow among the church.

An older man is considered eligible to be an Elder if he meets the following qualifications:

​

  • Above reproach

  • Husband of one wife

  • Household is in order with children who believe

  • Is not a new convert

  • Self-controlled and temperate

  • Honorable, hospitable, and seeks that which is good

  • Has a good reputation

  • Not addicted to wine

  • Not greedy

  • Able to teach sound doctrine

  • Able to refute false teaching​​​
